Progress Report January 2018 January 30th, 2018.Improving Audio / Video Synchronization with the "Multi Sync" July 21st, 2018Įarlier this month v1.2.3 was released, introducing a major change to our audio / video synchronization that I'm excited to talk about today.During this time, many quality of life features have been implemented to make the emulator easier and more enjoyable to use, graphics have taken another step forward, and our audio emulation has finally reached a mature point where there are features yet to be implemented, but what's implemented now works great. Last week we released our newest stable build, version 1.2.6 marking 6 months since our last progress report. Progress Report August 2018 August 13th, 2018.The plan at the time was to release it within 2 weeks, but other priorities came up and getting the Pi release to production quality was put on hold. Now Available on the Raspberry Pi 4 December 14th, 2019īack in July the first video of redream running on the Raspberry Pi 4b was posted.In this past year, support has been added for multiple new platforms to make the emulator accessible, performance has dramatically increased, new features such as save states and cheat support have landed to make emulating more fun, and numerous accuracy improvements were made to continue polishing the overall emulation experience. Hot off the presses is our latest stable, version 1.5.0, marking the second stable release since the last progress report. Progress Report February 2020 February 13th, 2020.Browse to the netplay menu, Select Refresh and then select the room you want to connect to. Configure Netplay Clients You don't need to configure anything to connect to netplay rooms. You can use this tool, enter your Netplay TCP Port once you are hosting and it will tell you if the port is open or not. RetroArch doesn't check if you managed to open your ports manually, the lobby server doesn't either so make sure you do that properly or enable the Relay Server or people won't be able to connect to your session. The clients will need to enter your IP address or hostname directly. Alternatively you can disable the Publicly Announce Netplay option. If you want to run a private game you can setup a Server Password to prevent random people from connecting. This routes both sides of the connection through our man-in-the-middle server. If your router doesn't support UPnP or you can't forward your ports or you are uncertain, enable the Use Relay Server option. After doing that just load the content you want to netplay and wait for players. The only thing you need to do is to configure your network parameters and "Start Hosting" from the netplay menu. If you are gonna host a game you don't need to scan content or to build databases. Can I trade Pokémon via RetroArch Netplay? No. One notable exception is same game GB/GBC Netplay via the TGB-Dual and Sameboy cores. Can I play GB / GBC / GBA / PSP / 3DS games with multiple people via RetroArch Netplay? No, RetroArch's netplay is not link-cable emulation, GB, GBA, PSP netplay are currently not possible with our implementation. Does PSX / N64 / Dreamcast / GameCube / Wii / 3DS netplay work? No, the performance requirements make the current model unsuitable for those. Which cores work for netplay? On a technical level, every core that supports save states should work but the performance requirements may be too high for it to work in any practical level. Does RetroArch support cross-platform netplay? Yes, but your mileage may vary, particularly when endianness differs. RetroArch says Content not found, try loading content manually Either load content manually, have the content in your recent history list, or scan your content to a playlist. Does it support more than two players? Yes! What do you need for RetroArch netplay to work? Same RetroArch version, same core version, and the same exact content. There is a fallback mechanism that can be employed by those who can't forward the ports, please read the Setup Guide below. Does RetroArch require port-forwarding to work? Yes, the host needs to forward the ports properly. FAQ What is netplay? It's a mechanism that allows multiplayer over a network.
